The cat that goes limp in your arms.
The Ragdoll is a large, semi-longhaired breed with striking blue eyes and colourpoint markings, named for its tendency to relax completely when picked up. Developed in 1960s California, it is one of the most docile and affectionate cats.
Ragdolls are famously mellow, floppy and trusting — they tend to follow their people, greet them at the door and go boneless when held. Their gentle, quiet demeanour makes them poorly suited to outdoor life, as they lack the wariness of street-savvy cats and are best kept indoors.
Schaal: laag tot hoog (1–3)
The silky coat has little undercoat, so it mats less than it looks — but a twice-weekly comb keeps the ruff and hindquarters tangle-free, more often in shedding season. They are slow to mature (up to four years) and can grow very large, so provide big, sturdy furniture.
